What is EPS?

Expandable Polystyrene is a white thermoplastic resin obtained by polymerization of Styrene Monomer. It has a closed pore, white (there is also a black variety), translucent beads. The Penten is impregnated. The Pentan acts as a blowing agent.

It is swollen by contacting with steam. In less than a minute, the particle volume reaches 40 times the original volume. During this inflation, the pentane is displaced by air, which creates numerous small pores. It provides static air insulation and flexibility that is trapped in the pores. Because of this feature, it is a very preferred material. Special products also include graphite-added products in gray / black tones where the particles are processed to reflect long-wave radiation.
